Within short time since its establishment, OGC has managed to achieve a number of very important milestones including the affiliation with R&A and the establishment of a unified handicap system for the country. The USGA handicap system is currently being implemented in each golf clubs and the touch screen kiosks are now set up at both Ras Al Hamra, Ghala and Muscat Hills.The unifed handicap system has allow, for the first time ever, official worldwide recognition of the handicap of Oman based players. Among the main change which resulted from the implementation of system is the switch from GONGU to USGA method for handicap calculation. OGC has recently established a subcommittee that will work on developing the game for children in Oman. The objective is to build foundation that will provide all children the opportunity to learn the game and develop their skills by creating an environment that allows beginners to learn and serious golfers to strive to the top.
